Flat wagons

It was one of the first to appear on the railway. It is designed to transport various goods with heavy or bulky loads that are insensitive to weather conditions. Flat wagon is the most basic of the rail freight wagons. It consists of a chassis, bogies, traction elements, a wooden or steel floor and stanchions to secure the cargo during transport.

Ermewa offers a wide range of flat wagons of different types and construction that allow our customers to transport products as diverse as steel coils, logs, pulpwood, and aggregates. Some wagon types are specially designed for the transport of long steel tubes and bars and are mainly used by the steel industry.

In 2019, we strengthened our leading position in Europe by acquiring more than 120 Shmmns (5 cradles wagons) for the transport of Coils (hot rolled steel coils).
